Can I do this walk? This walk is easy to do by foot, wheelchair, or other mobility aids.
What will I see? You will see a winding river, big trees, a weir, waterbirds, a sculpture park, and nearby farms.
How easy is the path to use? There are signs to guide you. The area is well-kept.
The path is smooth, wide, and gently sloping. There are no steps. One small gully has a non-slip plastic boardwalk with gentle slopes. Our wheelchair user did this alone, but others might need help.
A wheelchair can turn around and travel side-by-side.
Car parks and local streets offer places to be picked up or dropped off for shorter walks. Mobile phone service is good.
Jennings Street connects the north and south ends of the path. There is no crossing for walkers.
The path edges meet grass and some dirt patches, which might be uneven.
Between the outdoor gym and the weir, a gravel driveway to the river crosses the walking path. It has no signs.
This riverside path might flood sometimes.
Dogs must be on a leash.
Cyclists might share the path.
Rest areas There are shady trees, but the path is open to the weather. An easy-to-use BBQ shelter is at Quarry Reserve.
Seats and picnic tables on concrete pads are right next to the path. Most have room for mobility aids beside them.
A wheelchair-friendly viewing/fishing spot and outdoor gym are at the weir. There are picnic tables and a drinking fountain. Trash bins are provided.
There are interesting and easy-to-read signs.
Toilets Easy-to-use toilets are at the Kyneton Community Park (1 kilometre away).
Dogs Dogs must be on a leash.
Getting there There is no public transport. Three car parks connect right to the walking path.
- Campaspe Place by the river (good for fishing) on a gravel road with grass around it.
- Quarry Reserve gravel car park across the Piper St bridge. Cars parked in front of the shelter path can block access. If so, the walking path is across the grass.
- The weir has one easy-to-use space with a safe side space. It has a smooth, firm, wide surface.
