Disabled Wintersport Australia (DWA) is the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) body responsible for adaptive winter sport in Australia. DWA have developed sporting pathways at the social, active recreational and elite level. They currently include: Winter Paralympic Preparation Pathway Special Olympic Australian Athlete Development Pathway Australian Military Athlete Development Pathway Australian Professional Instructors Pathway Volunteer Adaptive Snow Sport Guide Development Pathway. They are also a:
- Public Benevolent Institute
- Not for Profit Organisation
- Deductible Gift Recipient and Income Tax Exempt charity
- Registered Fundraising Organisation under the Charitable Fundraising Act, and
- An Adaptive Snow Sport Training Organisation.
DWA’s headquarters are in Melbourne, and operate at Australia’s five major snow resorts across New South Wales and Victoria. DWA works closely, and collaboratively, with the management teams at Thredbo, Vail Resorts (Falls Creek, Mt. Hotham, Perisher Ranges) and Mt. Buller.
DWA’s members range from recreational skiers and snowboarders to Winter Paralympians, and some of the world’s finest winter athletes have emerged from DWA’s programs.
