What can I see? Leave the boats and jetties of the harbour and follow the path by the blue bay waters. On your way back, see the beautiful Merri River outflow, Merri and Middle Islands.
Is this walk okay for me? This walk is easy for everyone, including those using a wheelchair or other mobility aid.
How easy is the path? Signs guide you. The path is wide with room for side-by-side travel and turns. It has mild slopes that are easy to manage with a push wheelchair. There are no steps.
You can walk shorter distances with easy car access for pick-ups. Phone coverage is good.
Sometimes, branches from coastal plants may be on the path. The path is well-kept, and there is evidence of regular pruning. Path edges stop at soft sand. Ramps to the beach also stop at soft sand. There are no wheelchair mats for beach access below the ramps.
You will cross the Warrnambool Yacht Club / car park driveway. Kerbs are ramped, and traffic is slow.
Rest areas The walk is well-kept. Enjoy views from easy-to-reach spots, seats with and without armrests, and some picnic tables by the path. See interesting signs about local shipwrecks as you walk.
There are drinking water fountains and toilets. Note: the path is open to the weather with little shelter.
Food and drink are available at both ends of the walk. There are BBQs, picnic tables, and bins. There is ramped access to the café at the harbour and Life Saving Club. A switchback path takes you to the kiosk and pedestrian crossing to Lake Pertobe.
Warrnambool is busy during holiday seasons.
Keep dogs on a leash. Cyclists may share paths.
Public Transport The No. 5 bus stops outside Pertobe Village. The bus stop is signed but has no shelter or seats. Start the walk by heading to Worm Bay Road (200 meters via wide, sealed paths). Kerbs are ramped, and a road crossing is needed.
Parking There are 4 car parks along the walk. All have easy parking for pick-ups or drop-offs. Surfaces are sealed and flat. Most have protected side space and direct ramped access to the path. No road crossings are needed.
